Win 5 Hours Free Photography Training
Friends, I am becoming aware of how short life is and how important it is to be a blessing to those around us. Christmas is the time for giving. And I want to allow three special people to Win 5 Hours Free Photography Training!
Let Me Tell You A Story
A few weeks ago I watched an incredible video by the amazingly gifted, hugely successful and shockingly humble photographer, Jeremy Cowart. You can check him out here: https://www.facebook.com/jeremycowart/. He has a video called “I’m possible” and it’s his story of becoming the photographer he is. If you haven’t seen it you can watch the video here. https://www.facebook.com/jeremycowart/videos/10153274835971260
He has a wonderfully powerful uplifting story and it moved me deeply. In the video, he asks the question “so what about all the success and fame?” Good question eh?
Use Your Gift to Bless Others
In part of the video, he was talking about a program he created to encourage photographers from around the world to give a gift of photography to someone in need. This is a once-a-year event where thousands or tens of thousands of photographers from around the world come together for a day to offer their gifts and abilities to someone in need. Wow, powerful eh?
Photography Has Power
The two main points about this story that hit me so strongly were first of all the power of photography. Photographers have the power and the ability to change the way people see themselves. In this sometimes dark and dreary world, this gift and ability can indeed be a lifesaver for some people.
Some Have A Passion for Photography But Don’t Know How to Get Started.
Secondly, you may know people that have the interest or passion for photography but they just don’t know how to get started. Or they don’t know how to take their ability to the next level.
I have to power and the ability to easily help them, and what am I doing about it?
Take Action
It is one thing to be emotionally moved and shaken but it’s another thing to take some action. These thoughts have been rumbling around in my head for several weeks now and it is time to take some action. I have learned to pay attention to that still small voice in my head telling me to do something.
So with that in mind, I have decided to offer 5 Hours of Free Photography Training to 3 very special people that that would most benefit from my help.

Wayne,
I would not say that I am more deserving than any other person entering this give away, I am just a gal who loves photography and have never had any formal training! I found you last year by simply asking a question on where to get a great photo of the Minneapolis skyline. You so graciously answered and gave me directions to the bridge over 35W. After that I started following you on Instagram and Facebook. I have learned you have a great sense of humor, love Joyful Noise (as do I) and have a very generous soul! I thought I would enter this give away to see if I was one of the lucky ones chosen to get some much needed assistance with my photography hobby. In the past I have been asked to photograph a few high school seniors and even two weddings! I declined the second wedding after the first one was way too stressful for me! I have since learned that I really prefer photographing landscapes and “non people” subjects. I would love to learn the ins and outs of my camera. I have a Canon Rebel with a nice lens (can’t remember the name off the top of my head) but I love it! I feel I need help with the settings for different lighting situations etc… I tend to become a little obsessive about getting the perfect photo and then am very disappointed when the lighting is off etc…THEN I give up and put away the camera because my photos don’t live up to my expectations!
I would be honored to work with you and learn from an amazing person and photographer!
Merry Christmas!
Teresa Nelson
Thank you so very much for joining in the fun.. Merry Christmas!!
I would like to enter the photography training contest. While my skills as a macro photographer continue to grow, I find myself feeling stuck with regards to portraiture photography. Actually, I’m scared to start until I understand how to use my OCF. Up to now, I’m self taught, but I’m at a place where I would benefit immensely from one on one training to help me push past some barriers. I’m eager to learn and I’m open to feedback to help me grow. I would be grateful to have the opportunity to work with you.
Thank you so much for participating.
Hi wayne
I would love to enter the free photography session.
As you know you have been such a big part of my photography passion!
I would love to learn more and what i can do more to make my pictures more crisp. I also have trouble with flash and lighting so that is a big deal especially for weddings and studio pictures.
My passion is portrait photography. I love working with people and giving them something that they can look back at and smile.
I am not a beginner but i am also not a master pro either, i have much to learn.
Thank you so much for this opportunity
Merry christmas
Stacy lockhart
You are entered Stacy.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
I would like to enter your free sessions contest. I am a very amateur photographer and would love to learn more about my camera and the art of photography itself. I ama working mom of 3 and love to capture our life on film. I have taken a few senior pictures for family and friends, apparently I’m okay, I’d love to be great! Thanks for giving anyone a chance at this, your talent is a gift!
You are entered my friend.
Merry Christmas!
Hi Wayne,
I would like to enter the contest as well. Photography is a passion that I haven’t taken the time to develop, mostly due to family and work commitments but I have entered a new phase of life where I have the time and even the joy of being able to focus on the things that interest me and this is definitely one of them. I would classify myself as a beginner, including what camera should I buy, how do you compose a great shot, how do you get that shot without making everyone squint, composition of a picture, and how did you manage to make the Ristow’s look so fabulous??
Thank you for sharing your talent and gifts!
Erin
Hello Erin, you are entered.
I LOVE this! What a great thing to do! Photography is such an amazing skill and you are so, so talented it will be fun to watch you share your gifts with others!
You are too kind my friend, Thank you. Are you entering the contest as well?
OooOooOoo… Just started my blog and Instagram account for my blog at the end of July, and I could USE the tips for photos of my kiddos. My blog is dedicated to reaching out to other parents and finding the humor in the reality of parenting small children. There are so many blogs and social media posts that only show the highlight reel, where as I hope to support other parents by being honest about those daily struggles. Part of that included posting about my struggle with postpartum anxiety. I am hoping to end the stigma for mental health, and showcase ways for us to support each other with understanding and humor.
Currently I am using my iphone, but I would love to be trained in on a real camera for portraits so I can capture more authentic moments with my kiddos and Frenchie.
What a great idea Sonja. You are entered!!
As you might already know, I am passionate about photography…and I feel like I have a fairly good grasp of how to photograph specific things like a bird, flower, or even a person. I really struggle with finding and composing landscapes, and I feel like that is one piece that is holding me back. I could also use help with knowing what to do with social media, etc.
My vision (someday… hopefully) is to write a kind of devotional based on what I have learned about God from photographing birds.
Roslynn, thank you so very much for entering.
I’d like to nominate my husband.
Photography is a true passion of his but in our life together he has not been able to practice it as much as he may have planned. I came down with chronic Lyme years ago – the cognitive effects took my job. And then our house. He had to support us and juggle two kids and a sick wife. For years all he did was work — and then come home to more work.
We are back on our feet again and we know what is important in life. It’s moments together and the beauty around us. And I think those values drive his photography interests. He loves the wonder of astral photography and stunning landscapes. But also is interested in learning more about catching the beauty in every day moments, the way a tree bends or a bridge reflects or a face ages or a child smiles.
Please consider this hardworking yet fun loving man for your classes. He deserves something just for him. Many thanks for this opportunity.
What a great story Susan.
Your husband is entered!
